Alpha Chi Sigma
About
“To bind its members with a tie of true and lasting friendship.”
The Gamma Tau chapter of Alpha Chi sigma embraces the idea of brotherhood. To be a brother means being a part of something bigger than yourself, finding friends you never would’ve expected to meet, and having people you know you can count on, not only for clarifying a subject in class, but also for being there when you need someone to talk to, hang out with, commiserate with, and celebrate with. It is rare to see one of our brothers on their own as we are always together.
“To strive for the advancement of chemistry both as a science and as a profession.”
Many of the brothers of the Gamma Tau chapter are actively helping professors and performing their own research in a variety of science topics. Performing research allows students to apply the material learned in school, contribute to intellectual knowledge, and adequately prepare themselves for post-graduate work. Although IUP only requires two credits of research, many of our brothers continue their work throughout their entire undergraduate career.
“To aid its members by every honorable means in the attainment of their ambitions as chemist throughout their mortal lives.”
The Gamma tau chapter is very active in the scientific community. Throughout the year, our brothers perform several chemistry magic shows at local elementary and middle schools. We also have judged at multiple elementary school science fairs. The Gamma Tau chapter of Alpha Chi Sigma is open to all service projects and ideas. If you have a project and you would like to see our chapter get involved with it, please contact Riley Sullivan, plbdc@iup.edu.
