Delta Alpha Pi

About

IUP is proud to host its own local chapter of Delta Alpha Pi International Honor Society (BETA ZETA chapter).

Delta Alpha Pi, the first honor society of its kind in the nation, was established to recognize the academic accomplishments of college and university students with disabilities. There are now over 170 chapters (and growing) throughout the United States and internationally.

Because of the negative stereotyping associated with disability, students have sometimes been reluctant to identify themselves publicly. Delta Alpha Pi presents an opportunity to change that perception by recognizing college students with disabilities for their academic achievements. In addition, this honor society offers opportunities for development of skills in leadership, advocacy, and education for student participants (however, taking part in honor society leadership positions is not required of members).

Membership to Delta Alpha Pi is open to all IUP undergraduate or graduate students who identify as having a disability.

Undergraduate initiates must have already completed a minimum of 24 credits and have a current overall Quality Point Average (QPA) of 3.10+.

Graduate initiates must have already completed a minimum of 18 credits and have an overall QPA of 3.30+.
